Ukrainian fruit harvest

AS OF 1 October 2008, Ukraine has harvested 1.07 million tonnes of fruits and berries, down 1.6% compared with the same date of the last year, according to the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine. 'Industrial' farms harvested 85 100 tonnes of fruit and berry crops (93.5% of last year's yield), while rural and private farms harvested 988 000 tonnes (98.9%). The biggest fruit and berry producing regions were Dnepropetrovsk and Chmelnitsk, with harvests of 145 700 tonnes and 105 400 tonnes, respectively. Kiev region harvested 12 600 tonnes of fruit and berries and the farms of Ternopol and Chernigov regions accounted for 3 500 tonnes and 14 000 tonnes, respectively.
