HERBIGNAC Cheese Ingredients, a unit of French dairy processor Eurial Poitouraine, has opened a e 53.6 million mozzarella factory. The new plant can process 270 million litres of milk and produce 30 000 tonnes of mozzarella a year. The factory's production will mainly be exported to global food producers, such as ready meal and pizza manufacturers. The project was funded by International Dairy Ingredients - a joint venture between Eurial Poitouraine and Ingredia, which will be responsible for the by-products manufactured at the plant - and dairy companies Sodiaal and Bonilait Proteines, plus the French government, local authorities and the EU.
