Attempt to fend off CokeThis article was originally published in Foodnews
CHINA's Ministry of Commerce is to hold a meeting on Coca-Cola's US$2.4 billion bid to purchase Huiyuan. It is feared that other Chinese juice companies will present proposals at the meeting for their own purchase of Huiyuan. There are press rumours of up to three different acquisition plans. One, according to the Xinhua state news agency, could see Huiyuan broken up and sold to Chinese producers while another would see Coke allowed to complete the takeover but exclude the Huiyuan brand, which would be sold to Chinese firms.
