THE University of California Co-operative Extension's (UCCE) new dried plum variety, Muir Beauty, is set to make its way onto US store shelves, although it may be difficult for consumers to identify since it will not be labelled differently. Developed by UCCE scientists at the behest of the state's dried plum industry, the Muir Beauty, a cross between the Improved French and Tulare Giant varieties, dries into a visually appealing, shiny, less wrinkled fruit.
