CANNERIES in the Gomel region of Belarus have finished processing green peas. This season, they have produced 10.5 million standard cans, up 10% from last year. JSC Turov, Koptsevichskiy vegetable dehydration plant, JSC Yelskiy cannery and Brilevo are the region's main processors of green peas and JSC Turov produced the largest volume at 7.0 million cans. Canned green peas are produced in glass jars with twist-off lids and in tins. Canning of sweet corn will begin in the region in the next two weeks, and output is predicted to be around 1.5 million cans.
