AMID concerns over mad cow disease and bird flu, South Korean consumers are buying more seafood over poultry and beef, according to The Chosun Ilbo. Discount retailer Megamart said that seafood sales this month soared 40% compared with the previous month. Sales of mackerel grew 55%, squid sales rose 20% and shrimp sales increased 70%. Packaged seafood sales also doubled from last month.
