Fish processing scheme

VENEZUELA is investing VEF80 million (US$37.3 million) in 13 new fish processing plants. The MAT, the Ministerio del Poder Popular para la Agricultura y Tierras, is financing the project through the Inapesca, Instituto Nacional de la Pesca y la Acuicultura, and is aiming to reach a total of 38 fish stocking and processing plants in the next few years, to reduce Venezuelan fishermens' dependency on traders. The CVA, Corporacion Venezolana Agraria, will manage the plants and market the final produce.
