THE EU and the Eastern and Southern African (ESA) countries have signed an interim agreement that allows the latter a duty free import quota into the EU of 8 000 tonnes of canned tuna and 2 000 tonnes of precooked tuna loins. The quota is shared between ESA members: Comoros, Mauritius, Madagascar, Seychelles, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Zambia. The countries will receive preferential treatment from the EU until 31 December.
