Peanut claims overpaid

THE US has billed 28 Texas peanut growers a total of US$632 000 to resolve allegations that they were overpaid in their crop policies, insured by the Risk Management Agency (RMA). Each grower participated in a programme that insures farmers for specific crop losses. The growers all claimed for loss of peanut crops in 2000 and received a settlement of between US$2 000-96 000.
