PHILIPPINE tuna production for export has declined in the last six months, according to the Tuna Canners Association of the Philippines (TCAP), reports MindaNews .TCAP's president Mariano Fernandez, of Ocean Canning, said that most tuna canning plants in the Philippines were operating below their full capacity; Ocean Canning, which has a capacity of 100 tonnes a day, is working at 50% of its production capacity. He noted that his company had cut half of its workforce, and now operated a single shift rather than 24 hours a day.
