Patent lawsuit dismissedThis article was originally published in Foodnews
OCEAN Spray Cranberries has won a lawsuit that accused it of infringing a patent in the manufacture of its 'craisins'; sweetened, dried cranberries. A US judge in Boston threw out a claim by Canada's Amazin' Raisins International Inc that Ocean Spray had used its patented process of preparing dried fruit. Judge Mark Wolf ruled that Ocean Spray uses a process different from that covered by the patent. The Amazin' Raisins patent covers a method of flavouring dried fruit, while Ocean Spray uses defrosted frozen cranberries.
