THAILAND'S food exports totalled US$3.2 billion in the first four months of this year, up 18% from the same four months last year, according to the country's Commerce Minister Krirk-Krai Jirapaet. Exports of food products exceeded US$9.3 billion in 2006, an 11% increase from 2005, and the government predicts that total 2007 exports will reach US$10.05 billion. In 2006, over half of all food exports from Thailand came from frozen and canned seafood, at US$4.9 billion. The rest was made up by frozen fruit and vegetables (US$1.79 billion), frozen and processed chicken (US$773 million) and other types of food.
