Hungary hit too by harsh late freeze

A RECENT report from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has concluded that prospects for Hungary's apple crop are now heavily reduced, after a frost struck early in May in the country. This comes after the same was reported last week ( FOODNEWS 11 May 2007 )inPoland, writes Rob Songer .It is deemed inevitable that the country's apple juice concentrate (AJC) production will be curtailed, after the main apple growing region of Hungary was hit by an extended cold snap. "Devastating frosts hit the north-eastern part of Hungary on 1-2 May, 2007, " the report notes.
