CHILEAN soft drinks maker Embotelladora Andina has reported healthy first quarter 2007 results. Operating income grew 14.8% to US$53.2 million compared with US$46.3 million in the first quarter of 2006, while net income reached US$41.3 million, 3% higher than the same period last year. Sales volume grew 6.3% to 114.1 million unit cases: soft drinks accounted for the majority at 104.4 million unit cases, mineral water with 4.9 million, juices with 3.8 million and beer with 1.0 million. Total sales grew 14% in value to US$295.4 million - of which US$110.4 million was attributed to the franchise in Chile, US$123.1 million in Brazil and US$63.5 million in Argentina.
