New views for French grainsThis article was originally published in The Public Ledger
STATE crop analyst FranceAgriMer said French maize exports will be 6.33m tonnes in 2012/13 from its previous view of 6.69m tonnes and 6.85m tonnes a year earlier, due to Ukrainian and South American competition. Stocks were put at 2.77m tonnes rather than the previous view of 2.17m tonnes and last year’s 2.43m tonnes. Soft wheat shipments should be 100,000 tonnes lower at 17.3m tonnes, but much better than 2011/12’s 16.2m tonnes. Stocks were seen at 2.29m tonnes, up from December’s figure of 1.96m tonnes and comparable with a year earlier.
