Cocoa land reduced

VIETNAM has reduced the amount of land it wants to devote to cocoa production by 2015 by around 16%, with farmers reluctant to switch to the new cash crop from coffee. The world’s second-largest coffee producer after Brazil has been looking to broaden its agricultural base, but the Agriculture Ministry said that farmers were hesitant to shift land to cocoa as they lack the skills to develop the crop. It also said that overall investment in the sector had been less than expected.
