COLOMBIA’S coffee production fell 0.45% in October from the same month a year ago after six months in a row of output growth as farmers decided to hold onto their beans because they expect prices to rise, the growers’ federation said on November 9. Colombia, the world’s top producer of high-quality arabica beans, produced 653,000 60kg bags in October, the federation said. Exports fell 3.6% last month to 581,000 bags. In the January to October period production fell 3% to 6m bags while exports decreased 7% to 5.6m bags, it said.
