Cameroon coffee exports slide

This article was originally published in The Public Ledger

CAMEROON’S robusta coffee exports reached 23,886 tonnes by the end of August since the start of the season in December, 13% lower than the same period last season, National Cocoa and Coffee Board (NCCB) data showed on Tuesday. The NCCB and the Cocoa and Coffee Interprofessional Board (CCIB) blamed the decline in exports on farmers stockpiling beans because of a fall in prices on the world market and on changing climatic conditions. August exports totalled 3,704 tonnes, up from 3,579 tonnes in July and 2,410 tonnes in August last year.
