Vietnamese sugar stocks down

VIETNAM’S sugar stocks fell 18% in July from a year earlier to 239,400 tonnes despite rising output, the government said on Thursday, suggesting consumption is picking up in the Southeast Asian country. Vietnamese sugar refineries produced 1.3m tonnes of sugar after the 2011/12 sugarcane crushing season ended early this month, in line with expectations and climbing 14% from a year ago, the Agriculture Ministry said.
