THE average price for top grade tea from Kenya rose for the first time in a month to $3.52 per kg from $3.31 per kg. Africa Tea Brokers said that 109,088 (6.78m kg) packages were offered for sale, with some teas unsold, particularly poorer grades. Pakistan packers bought more tea than last week, as did Egyptian packers, Yemen, Russia and Sudan. There was improved inquiry from the UK and Iran entered the market but there was less activity from Afghanistan.
