Average Kenyan tea price creeping up

THE average price of top grade tea sold by Kenya rose to $3.63 per kg at Kenya's weekly auction on Tuesday from $3.42 a week earlier, brokers said. Africa Tea Brokers said in its weekly market report there was good but irregular demand for the 128,598 packages (8m kg) on offer, up from the 126,955 packages on sale the previous week. Buyers from Pakistan were again dominant with strong support from Kazakhstan and Russia while buyers from the UK, Yemen, and other Middle Eastern countries were more active.
