Canada spring wheat acreage trimmed

AGRICULTURE and Agri-Food Canada has lowered its all wheat acreage expectations in the spring of 2011 to 22.56m acres, which would be down slightly from the 22.965m acres projected in January. In 2010, all wheat area in Canada totalled 21.126m acres. Heavy rain has caused farmers to struggle, meaning the unseeded area could be 8.154m acres, which would be up from the January projection of 7.747m acres, but below the 2010 level of 11.609m acres.
