GLENCORE, the Swiss commodities trading giant, could appoint former Tesco board member Rodney Chase as its new chairman. Mr Chase, who spent 11 years on BP's board, is due to step down from his role as chairman of oil services firm Petrofac this year. Former trade minister Lord Davies reportedly turned the chairmanship down, but others are still in the frame. Tony Hayward, ex-chief executive of BP, has been linked with a role as Glencore's senior independent director.
