German sugar fall

GERMAN output of refined sugar in the new 2010/11 season is likely to fall to 3.67m tonnes against 4.2m tonnes in the previous season, the country's Agriculture Ministry said on September 3. This was the same level as forecast by German sugar industry association WVZ on August 24. The area planted with sugar beet will fall to 362,000 hectares from 364,000 hectares last season, the ministry said.
