Australian sugar cut

AUSTRALIA'S raw sugar output in the year to June 30 2011 is expected to be 4.604m tonnes, down 4.1% from a March estimate of 4.801m tonnes, the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (Abare) said. Abare said there was some damage to crops in March due to cyclone weather in the tropical eastern state of Queensland, where most of Australia's sugar is grown. Raw sugar exports were pegged to reach 3.279m tonnes in 2010/11, down 4.9% from a March estimate of 3.449m tonnes.
