Maize stocks to fall

THE International Grains Council (IGC) has forecast that world maize output will rise to a record 809m tonnes in 2010/11 from 803m tonnes in 2009/10. However, it noted that despite this surge, end of season maize stocks would fall by 8m tonnes to 140m tonnes in 2010/11, as consumption was expected to increase by 13m tonnes to 818m tonnes.
