COMMODITY derivatives trading in Singapore generally improved in March of this year. Trading at the Singapore Commodity Exchange (SICOM) rose 54% to 36,701 contracts year-on-year, signalling an increasing interest in commodities. SICOM's gold contract made its successful debut on March 30 with 17,060 lots traded in the first two days of trading. Singapore Exchange also said that its overall trading reported strong growth in March this year. However, its derivatives and commodities products saw overall volume dip 2% due to muted volatility in the market.
