INDIA'S sugar import requirement for the remainder of the 2009/10 season should stand at 4m to 5m tonnes, said Tobin Gorey, soft commodities strategist with JP Morgan. However, MN Rao, acting director of the Indian Sugar Mills Association, said India's import need to the end of September was 1.6m tonnes, explaining that 7m tonnes had been imported since April 2009.
