Smaller prune crop

This article was originally published in Foodnews

PRUNE growers in Chile have confirmed that the new crop will be smaller, confirming earlier FOODNEWS reports ( FOODNEWS 16 November, 2012 ). How much smaller is still difficult to say as estimations are anywhere between 10-30%. “With a smaller crop we may see many 40/50 and 50/60 count and fewer smaller counts which are popular in Russia, Poland, Baltic States,” a source from QFN Trading said. “We do not have serious new crop prices, although indications show higher opening levels (USD23.50-25.50 per 10kg cfr EMP, depending on count).”
