Higher density orange groves will increase citrus production

COSTA Rica’s production of oranges is forecast in the latest USDA report to drop to 8.5 million boxes in the 2012/13 season from 9.0 million boxes the previous crop year. This is due to this season being an off year, and production is expected to rebound to 10.0 million boxes in 2013/14 as new trees enter into production.
