Eastern Pacific Ocean catches

CATCHES in the Eastern Pacific Ocean for the year to October were slightly down for both skipjack and yellowfin, according to the latest catch report from the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission, writes Amy Booth . Skipjack catches for the first ten months of 2012 were 1.4% down on the previous year at 226 443 tonnes. Of this, 125 385 tonnes were caught by Ecuadorean vessels, 22 754 tonnes by Panamanian vessels, and 16 674 tonnes by boats with Mexico’s flag.
