Coconut water growth

This article was originally published in Foodnews

SUCOS do Brasil, owner of the Jandaia juice brand, expects to end this year with 25% higher sales than in 2011. Vladimir Pekic writes: to achieve this goal, the company ramped up the number of sale points across Brazil. As of 2013, the company will also start selling coconut water in 1-litre and 200ml cartons. Sucos do Brasil today controls around 20 000 hectares planted to coconut and plans to expand by an additional 5 000 ha per year. Cashew juice accounts for 32% of the company’s output. “We control the entire production cycle, from cashew planting to fruit processing and bottling,” said commercial director Luis Eduardo Figueiredo, adding that his company was the first to offer cashew juice in Tetra Pak.
