Dried apricots recalledThis article was originally published in Foodnews
TURKANA Food, a wholesaler and distributor for specialty foods from Turkey and the Mediterranean, is issuing a recall on its dried apricots. The products are being recalled for undeclared sulphite preservatives. The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets found elevated sulphite levels during product sample testing. An investigation found that the sulphite additives were caused by a temporary breakdown in the Turkana Food production and packaging process. The recalled products are labelled Turkana Valley dried apricots in 250g and 500g packets.
