The harvest season has started for Argentina’s blueberry growers, as international demand is said to be high and exports are expected to increase. The blueberry harvest has kicked off in the provinces of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe and Entre Rios. According to official estimates, exports of Argentine blueberries are expected to reach around 1 000 tonnes this year – global exports of the fruit should total some 16 000 tonnes. Local producers say demand for Argentine product seems to be high from foreign markets; at the same time international consumption is on the rise, as people learn about the fruit’s health properties.
