More Cecab cannery closuresThis article was originally published in Foodnews
FRANCE’s second largest canned vegetable producer, Cecab, has announced plans to close two vegetable canneries over the next two years. This is part of a plan to improve the company’s competitiveness in the canned foods sector by concentrating production in a smaller number of sites. Cecab, which owns the d’Aucy and Globus brands, will close its canneries in Ciel, in Saône-et-Loire, and Rosporden, in Finistère, and its Blaisois site will be turned into a chilled storage facility. This follows an announcement earlier this month that Cecab would close its Lorient frozen foods plant, owned by its subsidiary, Cobral ( FOODNEWS 26 October ).
