Brasfrigo reopens

This article was originally published in Foodnews

AFTER three months of inactivity, the Brasfrigo vegetable canning plant in Luziânia, Brazil, restarted production under the management of new owner, Goiás Verde, on 17 October. Vladimir Pekic writes: Goiás Verde president Paulo Boni said the Brasfrigo plant resumed production of tomato pulp, which requires just a few employees. “Eventually, we will start producing other products from Brasfrigo’s portfolio,” he added. Tomato and canned vegetables producer Goiás Verde expects to double production with its newly-acquired capacity. “We account for 18% of the national [canned] maize and tomato production,” said Boni. Goiás Verde sales could reach BRL700 million (USD343.99 million) this year.
