Powdered pineapple

This article was originally published in Foodnews

THE Central Agriculture University (CAU) at Iroisemba, Imphal, in the Indian state of Manipur, claims to have successfully completed its project on producing pineapple powder. The aim has been to store the fruit for a longer period and to sell it to other states. However, its profitability is still uncertain, according to CAU’s director of research, Dr M Rohinikumar. The humid climate of the state makes it suitable for most types of fruits. Pharmaceutical companies in other states are importing medicines made from Manipur’s passion fruit.
