CROATIA’s oldest and largest producer of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, Badel 1862, has been told by Croatia’s agency for management of state assets (AUDIO) that 11 letters of interest from potential bidders have arrived in the first round of privatising the company. Vladimir Pekic writes: Badel 1862, which produces fruit juices and is a bottler of Pepsi-Cola, Mirinda and 7 Up, is majority owned by the government, with a 67.68% stake in the company. AUDIO will invite potential bidders to submit binding bids in the second round, as soon as the Croatian government sets the terms and initial bidding price, said Badel 1862, in a prepared statement on 27 August.
