Buy local, urges Chavez

This article was originally published in Foodnews

SALES of grape juice in Venezuela may get a boost as a result of a demand by President Hugo Chavez that Venezuelans should drink fruit juice produced by a state-run company instead of soft drinks such as Coca-Cola or Pepsi-Cola. Chavez says consumers should buy Uvita, a grape juice made by state-run Corpozulia. During the recent in speech in which he made the appeal, he also said that Venezuela is attempting to boost consumption of domestic goods as a means of reducing imports and promoted a Venezuelan wine.
