Shrimp exports doubledThis article was originally published in Foodnews
VIETNAM has doubled its first quarter shrimp exports to Australia, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP). Values rose to USD20 million, or double the value achieved in the same period last year, following a slow start in January. Australia is now the sixth-largest importer of shrimp from Vietnam. Processed shrimp products accounted for 82.6% of total shrimp exports to Australia, with sugpo prawn accounting for almost two-thirds of that. Vietnam’s total Q1 shrimp exports were worth USD436 million, says VASEP.
