Kefir from kiosksThis article was originally published in Foodnews
LIFEWAY Foods Inc, a US specialist in kefir beverages, may expand into kiosk sales direct to consumers. The company is testing the concept in the Boston area, both for its kefir and also its smoothies. Lifeway says that its large manufacturing volume and established distribution network enables it to pass significant savings along to partners. It can also offer support to partners, including a national strategic marketing plan, innovative customer awareness and business development programmes, an experienced support team and easy kiosk integration into established retail outlets such as grocery stores, universities, hotels and food service locations. Kefir-based products are cheaper to distribute than for example, frozen yogurts, because they have a liquid rather than a frozen base.
