CHILEAN fresh berries supplier, Hortifrut, is planning a flotation on the Chilean stock exchange with the aim of raising USD75 million through the sale of new shares. Estrategia reports that Hortifrut, which has operations throughout the Americas and in Europe and Asia, intends to use the proceeds to expand, particularly in its business supplying the foodservice sector, which according to the company has strong potential for global growth. Shareholders will vote on the proposal on 15 March. The company, currently controlled by the Moller, Swett, Novión and Urzúa families, registered profits of over USD3.4 million in 2010, with exports worth USD141 million.
