Possible amendment to Spanish turrón rules may affect local almond sales

VALENCIA’s Agriculture Union has spoken out against the Council of Jijona and Turrón from Alicante for asking the EU to change Geographic Protection Status (GPS) conditions which would “possibly allow the use of products, such as almonds and honey, from outside the Community” to make turrón which would, in their opinion, not only “break with” current Council regulations, but also cause “serious damage to regional producers”.
