Workers on strike at French McCain sitesThis article was originally published in Foodnews
TWO of McCain’s three plants in France have been hit by strikes as workers demand higher pay. A strike began on Sunday 4 December at the Harnes French fries plant, which turns out some 700 tonnes of the product daily. Employees at the Matougues plant went on strike a week ago. The workers are demanding a 10% increase in salaries. According to French media, McCain’s management described the demands of one of the unions representing workers, CGT, as “unrealistic” in the current economic situation.
