NZ canned sales upThis article was originally published in Foodnews
AROUND one in five Australians have turned to canned produce in the face of rising prices in the fresh sector, a study by Canstar Blue shows. Young adults appear to have been hit harder, with one in four favouring cans. Areas which have been hit by natural disasters, such as Queensland and New South Wales, are also buying slightly more canned food than average. Australasian neighbours, the New Zealanders, are also eating more canned produce. The percentage of respondents buying canned there was even higher, at 30%. Canstar Blue, which rates services and shops, surveyed 2 500 people in each of the countries.
