THE trial has begun in the Polish city of Rzeszow of seven people charged with producing contraband Coca-Cola at a disused brewery. Colin Graham writes: police arrested the group over a year ago when they stopped a lorry which contained 11 000 two-litre bottles of the counterfeit soft drink, according to Polish daily Gazeta Wyborcza . On searching the gang’s facility, officers discovered a production line and a bottling and labelling operation. Prosecutors have alleged that from June to November 2010, eight trucks left the factory loaded with fake Coca-Cola, with the produce bound for the UK and Lithuania, at a cost of PLN424 000 (USD129 000) to the international soft drinks company.
