PEPSICO is reported by the Wall Street Journal to be close to clinching a joint venture with German dairy company Theo Muller Group, to launch a yogurt brand in the US. Theo Muller is Germany’s largest privately-owned dairy business with operations in many European countries as well as Israel, and brands such as Muller, Weihenstephan, Sachsenmilch and Käserei Loose. It also makes private label dairy products. PepsiCo has made some previous experimental forays into the dairy sector and recently was considering moves in Russia through its Wimm-Bill-Dann subsidiary (FOODNEWS 16 December 2010) . It has also formed a joint venture with Middle Eastern processor Almarai to invest in juice and dairy processors in the region (FOODNEWS 20 February 2009) .
