McDonald’s considers fresh produce for kids

This article was originally published in Foodnews

AS PART of a drive to introduce more health-conscious choices, McDonald’s is testing out various fresh fruits and vegetables for inclusion in its children’s Happy Meals. USA Today reported that the company has been considering carrots, blueberries, mango and snow peas as future inclusions in the meals. McDonald’s is also testing new dishes for children and drinks made with milk or fruit juice. McDonald’s introduced new Happy Meals in the US in September, that include a smaller serving of French fries and a portion of apple slices, and the meals will be sold nationally by March. Previously the apple slices were available with the meals on request, but take-up by consumers was poor.
