HORMEL Foods has confirmed that Michael Mendes, chief executive of Diamond Foods, has been elected to the company’s board of directors. Mendes, who joined Diamond Foods in 1991, has previously held positions at Dole Food and the State of California. Hormel also welcomed Stephen Lacy (chief executive of Meredith Corporation) and Glenn Forbes (the medical director for initiatives in diversified business activities for medical imaging services at Mayo Clinic in Rochester) to the board. Mendes, Lacy and Forbes replace Ronald Pearson, Hugh Smith and John Turner who are to retire. Based in Austin, Minnesota, Hormel Foods manufactures consumer-branded food and meat products.
