TESCO has named Do Sung-hwan as the new chief executive for its operations in Malaysia. Do was previously chief operating officer for Tesco’s Korean supermarket banner, Homeplus. The appointment is the first time an executive at Homeplus has been appointed to head an overseas unit of Tesco, according to a report in the Korea Herald . “Selecting a Korean executive as the chief executive of one of Tesco’s overseas branches indicates the Tesco group has recognised the achievements of Homeplus over the past 12 years,” Homeplus chief executive, Lee Seung-han told the newspaper. Do began his career with the Samsung Corporation in 1981. He was later appointed supervisor at the first Homeplus branch in Daegu.
